Pro-Tips for a Perfect Bake
The Right Noodle: Egg noodles are a great choice because they are soft and absorb the creamy sauce beautifully. You can also use other pasta shapes like rotini or penne.
Customize It! This is a great recipe for using up any leftover vegetables you have. Try adding chopped mushrooms, bell peppers, or onions.
The Crispy Topping: You can use a variety of toppings for a satisfying crunch. Crushed Ritz crackers, fried onions, or even crushed potato chips are all great options.
Make Ahead: You can assemble the casserole up to a day in advance. Just cover and refrigerate. When you're ready to bake, add a few extra minutes to the bake time until the center is hot.
To Freeze: Assemble the casserole as directed, but don't bake it. Cover it tightly and freeze for up to 3 months. Thaw in the refrigerator overnight before baking.
